The water's starting to boil, I think this thread should be closed before the frogs realize what's happening.

Im not going back to comment on each comment as it is a waste of energy at this point. But no, I do not think I was being to sensitive. Someone needed ro call him out on that behavior. I still do believe that is the responsibility of everyone in the community including the men to insure that these sorts of insults are not tolerated. I resent the notion that I am being overly sensitive, riled Or whatever. In truth, I'm not even particularly angry. Something needed to be said, and I said it. That is all. God know enough energy has been expended on this.

Therein lies your problem...and the problem your moderator has...you consider it an insult when I say the word whore...

That's not my problem. It's a word, and has no more insulting meaning than whiffle ball bat, or drywall. If you are upset by the word, then you're the one who is attributing extra meaning to it...not me...so whose behavior is in question here? Mine, for saying the word, or yours, for first, self-identifying with the word, and second, for adding extra of connotations to the word completely on your own?

Hooker, whore, escort, courtesan...all the same...if you're one, you're all the rest...

That's where your mod fails...he succumbs to popular opinion instead of following the rules...he'll learn...

It wasn't the use of the word whore. Words are not connected to anything. Their power or lack thereof depends upon both the intent of the speaker and the whole node of ideas, which, over time come to coalesce around a word. Don't try and hide behind a word. It's not about a word. It's about your use of it and every negative connotation you tried to bring about by using it. I really don't have anything against you. I could be wrong, but I think you are very young and emotionally conflicted about all of this. I don't dislike you, but you may not behind a word.

Don't much care for the word "WHORE"....

http://www.eccie.net/showthread.php?t=819322

...and I would NEVER call someone a whore unless it applied. I just don't thinck it applies to "escorts" doing their job.

You can have a big smile on your face and ask a provider / escort how long she has been a "PROVIDER" / ESCORT" and get an answer. Ask how long she has been a "WHORE" and watch what happens!

Me? Yes I'm a "WHORE".

I am certainly not in "ignore it and it will go away mode". Some times we discuss handling of issues in advance and sometimes life itself gets in the way of the process.

The question here is not what YOU take from the word or words used or the context that you want everyone here to believe that you used it in. Posting Guideline #4 does not say to consider context, it says:
#4 - Blatant insults or hostility toward another member will be met with staff intervention. This applies to using our coed forums for name calling, personal attacks, or vulgar slang terms to describe fellow members. If you have legitimate concerns about another member here, share them tactfully in the appropriate private forums or with staff.

The question becomes if the word "whore" can be considered a vulgar slang term to describe fellow members. By the posts of several members male and female, they do find it a vulgar slang term. Since you are not happy with the points that you were given in the other thread or my explanation in PM's. Ultimately since our local members find the term offensive, I feel that it passes the litmus test of being outside of the posting guidelines.

It might be best if you have another moderator point you for your violation, otherwise it might be taken as a conflict of interest...

I remember a nice fellow from Little Rock, Arkansas who did that. That was FUN.

Wait...tarred and feathered out of town? You think I'm leaving over this? Heh...it's probably a good thing that staff doesn't post the happenings behind the scenes for the rest of you to see...it gets ugly when they get stepped on by their superiors...

Except of course when staff reveal private communications between members like this...then you all get riled up! See what I mean?
