I've followed Jerry Jeff (mainly) and Guy Clark since 1973. When my Dad was dying from cancer, I would remember this song and think "yeah that son of a bitch is comin", and I would cry, kiss my Dad on his forehead, and tell him I loved him...the only time I did so. It's funny how music can touch us so deeply.
