So I drove by one of the large Methodist Hospital complexes here in Houston.
Parking lot less than half full. Went by the emergency room, surrounding parking lot less than half full.
They had some of those COVID drive up testing tents. No cars. Saw no one inside the tents.
Didn't go inside the tent or the ER but no lines, no people milling around. My wife has a peanut allergy; last summer I had to park two blocks away at the same ER. Today I could have parked in the second row.
Spoke to my CPA who's up in Dallas. His sister's a nurse and she's been testing a lot of people at their drive-in facility. One positive test.
This Wuhan flu crisis is WAAAAAYYYYY overblown. Anyone have any experiences they like to share?

Hospitals have cancelled all elective surgeries and visitors are now prohibited from visiting hospitals. That's why hospitals are not jammed up yet. But wait and see what happens in a couple of more weeks one it has doubled a few more times.
Dallas fortunately has few cases so far. But if people don't follow the guidelines for quarantining and social distancing, then that will change for the worse.
I have a relative that works in one of the biggest hospitals in the NYC area. Entire wards of the hospital have been converted to coronavirus ICUs. All elective surgery cancelled. The military and national guard have equipment ready to set up field hospitals in the parking garages of the hospital.
The Navy hospital ship Comfort that was sent to NY isn't there for the corona patients. They will be putting all of the non-corona patients (over 2000) in the NYC area on the ship so they are not infected while recovering from various surgeries. It is easier to quarantine the ship than to try to quarantine a section or a floor of many dozens of hospitals.
I imagine they are doing the same with the Navy hospital ship Mercy in SF.
All that is for the purpose of freeing up hospital beds for the deluge of corona patients to come. NYC government has also secured the dorms of the colleges in the NY area for even more hospital beds.
Dallas is lagging NYC by 2-3 weeks. But we will catch up with them if the people in DFW don't strictly adhere to the CDC guidelines.
On the upside, coronavirus is a great opportunity to thin the herd of the conspiracy theorists who think COVID-19 is a hoax. Let the idiots gather publicly. Stupidity will be its own punishment.
