There are two treatments for wet macular degeneration. Both are made by the same drug manufacturer. Both are just as effective as the other. One is an off label use and the other is specific to the treatment. One cost 45 bucks and one cost 2000 bucks. Guess which one is not permitted by Medicare and which one is.

On the old ASPD about 8 years ago, my two big suggestions for reigning in healthcare costs was to 1) increase the number of doctors and 2) allow the mail order of drugs into the US without a US prescription. My suggestion for 1) was to do this immediately to meet the demand for the rapidly increasing number of seniors.
