We must be speaking different languages as I still don't get why you feel that way. Maybe you mean something different than monetary value? I am just talking about the monetary value of time, which for me, has changed over the years. In an attempt to avoid being arrogant, I will compare myself to myself.

In college, I had plenty of free time and not much money. I worked for 8 bucks an hour to try to make ends meet and pay for school. Now I have very little time and a set of skills that at least a portion of society values much more than the 8 bucks an hour I used to earn. Would I spend the little time I have going back to work that 8 dollar per hour job when I can earn 100 times that doing other things? No. My time has more monetary value and to waste it at my old menial job seems stupid rather than arrogant.
