Only TWO games Roger Goodell...

I guess every man that hits a woman is a thug right. What do you call an mma fighter that beats the shit out of a pornstar do you call him a thug or you going to give him a pass
I never bought into that whole environment shit. I work with two guys who grew up dirt poor in some bad projects and are great friends and model citizens. And I know guys who had a great upbringing who turned out to be fucking criminals or just hard hearted assholes.

...Plain and simple, they changed the rules on the poor bastard without prior notice...he lived, and thrived, in a social milieu that admires woman beating, with its own anthems to that effect. And the dipshit NFL was unperturbed....until now.

The NFL commissioner made a ruling with input from the Rices, the Ravens, legal authorities and other NFL vetted sources. Rice was fined $60K, suspended two games and agreed to enter treatment programs.

They had a deal. The NFL and its players have a long history of wife and girlfriend beating including incidences where the NFL players killed or had killed their female partners. I'm not justifying wife beating or murder. I'm saying this situation with Ray and his wife is very complicated with likely a lot of alcohol and perhaps gambling losses involved. It happened at 2 am. It's only because the punch was televised that there's this outrage from the public. The commissioner shouldn't have made a hasty decision based on public outrage. This was a situation that the league and the NFLPA should have come to a decision.

..
My assertion is that Rice could have done any number of things other than strike her twice in the face. Gnadfly appeared to be suggesting that Rice tried to avoid it by going to the other side if the elevator. I pointed out that was only after he struck her in the face the first time... The libtards might call this cultural imperialism...subjecting people to your own cultural values. Ray Ray may be in America, but maybe he's not of America ... of polite civilized society. Snootfull of liquor, and he's back in the hood, probably expecting style points for his punch. Don't get me wrong: the unassimilated thug subculture may be the number one problem for America, and it needs eradication. But poor ol' Ray's bearing the brunt of the sins of many seems harsh to me...the NFL is at least as culpable as he is by systematically and reliably averting its gaze. Originally Posted by Don T. Kinda strange that everyone wants to give Michael Vick a second chance and insisting we are a forgiving society but not in this case. Especially after Ray Rice's wife Janay said she forgave him and pleaded for his job.

...
I was taught from babyhood to never raise my hand to a woman and you probably were too...but our experience not only does not extend to the subculture, it's ridiculed. Same as sucker punches and mob assaults...unthinkable to us, mother's milk to thugs. Originally Posted by Don T. Lukbak

No, not every man who hits a woman is a thug, but let's not digress from the immediate issue.

Actually, I see both War Machine and Ray Rice as victims of their upbringing and failure to control their emotions.

The same raw physical power that made them excel in sports was now a liability in dealing with civilized society.

. . .I doubt that either of these guys even now realize that they themselves are the cause of their own misfortune, but perhaps their story may make others think twice before using physical violence to settle disputes.

The league presented it's case. RR and Janay presented theirs. A ruling was made.
The league should stand by that original ruling. 2 games. I realize the NFL isn't the government but this is like double jeopardy.
Considering the fact that the league had the video but didn't use it in presenting their case(supposedly) they are the ones with egg on their face. Goodell is in charge of the NFL and personally handled the case. His ass should be gone for fucking it up.
I'm not condoning what RR did. I despise it but the fact remains that the league office fucked this up. They shouldn't be able to go back and put the fuck up on RR after he's been "tried, convicted and sentenced"

Again, I am tired of the Disneyfication of the NFL.

Lukbak you write some bizarre Shit. How you make the leap from one cowardly black athlete punching out his fiancee, to somehow have something to do with 'white liberals' like myself, allegedly treating blacks as 'retards', is an argument somehow between the ridiculous and the sublime! The hundreds of black students who have passed through my classroom in the past four decades of teaching in public schools across this country, they individually and collectively know they were treated with respect and afforded equal opportunities to succeed, and they were never, ever treated as - that very offensive word you used-'retards.' Here's the logical progression you fail to grasp:

1) the barbarism between Ray-Ray and his woman did not occur because he is black; it occurred because lack of impulse control and violence toward women are pieces of a diseased sub-culture. Neither the perp nor his "victim" thought it was a big deal; it was just another day in Thug Land. (as an aside, if you really believe he is cowardly you would not hesitate to mention that opinion to him in the flesh...it reminds me of schlubs calling Mayweather a coward....ha).

2) the thug subculture began its existence soon after Liberal Democrat LBJ's Great Society and "War on Poverty" began removing the utility of black males to black families. The middle 60's were an inflection point for most if not all indicators of societal pathology, including violent crime rates, out-of-wedlock births, incarceration rates, etc. These had been stable, or decreasing, for 100 years until 1965, then they began to skyrocket. More and more young black males found themselves excluded from creating nuclear families, their only remaining connection to society being their dicks and their trigger fingers.

Oh, but those white liberals had such good intentions, murmur morons. And we all know that in libtardostan intentions are all that matter, results do not.

The "War on Poverty" was based on the premise that Black Americans are too slow of thought to fend for themselves (for those with advanced degrees in education, "retard" in the context of this discussion means incapacity for sovereignty over oneself). This was the identical argument Alexander Stephens, Vice President of the Confederacy, had made to Lincoln at the so-called Hampton Roads Peace Conference exactly 100 years before LBJ declared "War on Poverty". The Confederacy knew it was losing and this was a last ditch effort for a negotiated peace, keeping chattel slavery as a kindness to the Negroes, who will certainly perish if left to fend for themselves. Stephens was a tiny doll of a man, all bundled up against the February cold aboard ship on the roads. He and Lincoln shared a fondness for one another, and Abe would usually take a knee to get down to meet Stephen's eyes...but this time he is said to have picked him up, held him at arm's length, and eye to eye told him the story of the farmer's strategy to maintain his hogs through winter in frozen potato fields...It's Root, Hog, or Die...Alexander. A popular song of the same name came from that.

And Root, Hog...is what the freed slaves did for the next 100 years, with steady economic gains along the way...until the fucking white liberals decided they needed to get money for nothing. Any population treated this way would develop the same pathologies of dependency manifested in the Thug Culture.

3) the NFL has not only tolerated the thug subculture, it has virtually embraced it. Until now..with sports journalists now gossip mongers, concussion fainthearts, onomastic cringing over team names, fucking pink helmets...even you get the picture, I think...voila, 180 reverse course leaving old Ray-Ray as the sacrifice.

The reason I count myself lucky to be white is I realize what a worthless shitbag I would probably have become had I grown up a black mascot of anointed white liberals. The reason I admire black conservatives who are truly accomplished is because they had sufficient character to reject all the freebies and slack AND white liberals, who particularly hate them because they can't deal with rejection.

You're welcome.
