Mayweather and Mosley

If Mayweather's the best pound for pound, then boxing is worse off than I thought. MMA is leaving it in the dust, and because the boxing world is so eveloped in its arrogance it doesn't even realize it.

Besides, the phrase 'pound for pound' is a lil man's argument. The heavies don't need such fickle reassurance.

I hope all of you Mayweathers naysayers remember this thread (and of course, I will not let you forget). Cause you will all be eating crow. That's what I promise. Pound for pound, Mayweather is the best there is right now. Originally Posted by Merlin

If he doesn't agree to testing 14 days prior and after the fight, then it'll look again like he's afraid to fight. If he's the best there is, I want to see him fight the best out there, something he hasn't done.

Pacquaio's manager, Freddie Roach, even agreed to 7 days but I guess no one else in Pacquaio's camp had discussed that with him cause he quicky changed his mind.

And not only that but Mayweather agreed to Pacquaio's demand that if any fighter was over 147, they would be fined $10 million dollars which is unheard of. He didn't think that Mayweather would agree to it but he did.
Please join us in welcoming Floyd Mayweather, Jr. to ECCIE Staff. He will be moderating our upcoming Boxing forum. In the meantime, he'll be keeping a close eye on the outcome of this thread. (Mayweather -100/Pacquiao +100)

Welcome aboard Floyd!

Not to mention that some of your links don't even support your position. The initial negotiations are different from someone's final position. The final demand was for 14 days.

If you think you are right, I got no problem with it but don't tell me to get my facts straight either. That's all I am saying.

No prob...but I wanna blood test from both of ya at least 12 hrs before the fight. And after.
Gonna try this again. This time I will post excerpts of the article:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...tion=si_latest

WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has budged. The Filipino champion is now willing to agree to Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s previous cut-off date for a random Olympic-style drug testing protocol. Earlier this year, the two sides failed to reach an agreement for a March mega-fight. The issue of random drug testing was the root cause for the failed negotiations.

The two fighters were unable to agree on the cut-off date for the blood tests. Mayweather wanted a 14-day cut-off on the tests, while Pacquiao wanted the random drug testing protocol to end 24-days before the fight. Now Pacquiao is willing to meet Mayweather's number.

"I am willing to help the sport for the future of the sport. I do not want to see anyone cheat or cheat this sport. For that reason I am willing to consider taking blood as close as 14 days prior to the fight, as long as, my opponent does the same, and it is not a lot of blood, just enough to test," Pacquiao said in a statement on his official website, mpboxing.com .

"I do not want anyone having an unfair advantage where someone may get hurt. I am willing to do my part to help this sport out."

Let's examine these statements. What is the significance of Pacquiao areeing to a 14 day cutoff? Hmmm. This is his interview where he is making a statement for some reason. His camp never disputed the facts presented in the article. The article states that the reason that the fight fell apart was because Pacquiao wouldn't agree to the 14 day cutoff. It didn't mention that Pacquaio demanded that any fighter that was over 147 would be fined $10 million dollars cause Pacquiao has trouble making weight so that was HIS demand. And now Pacquiao is making a statement that he is agreeing to a 14 day cutoff.

If Mayweather final demand was for 48 hours, then Pacquiao is the one who is confused. He seems to think that Mayweather insisted on 14 days. The only person that fails to see that is ..... S u r c h e r.

Pacquiao goes on to say that he is willing to help the sport. Why would he think that he is helping the sport if Mayweather demanded a 48 hour or day of the fight testing.

Surcher, clearly your issue is with Pacquiao not me. Obviously, you know more than he does. Please contact him and tell him he needs to get his facts in order and soon.

I am still willing to Fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. I never said the fight was off or I do not want to fight him. I will fight anyone at anytime and my record and past fights prove that. I have never and will never dodge anyone.

These are my specifications for this fight regarding blood testing. I have offered to give a blood sample the day of the Announcement of the fight at the Press Release. I have Offered to give a blood sample 30 days before the fight. I am willing to give blood immediately after the fight is over inside my dressing room . I am also willing to give urine tests at anytime any where everyday leading up to the fight. The truth is taking blood out of my body does not seem natural to me and mentally I feel it will weaken me if blood is taken from me just days before the fight. That does not make sense to me why anyone would do that.
These accusations of me using any performance enhancing supplements are totally unwarranted and unjustified. To all of my fans I want to say thank you very much for all your support and understanding. I always give honor to God first and I would never cheat. I would never Cheat God, I would never cheat myself, and I would never cheat my country and my fans.

If Floyd Mayweather Jr. does not accept these terms than my promoter will find me another fight for March the 13th. Again I will fight anyone at anytime.

I would always like to be known for my honor and my integrity. I will always be known for my courage and my willingness to face any man at anytime in my career. If Floyd Mayweather Jr. truly ever wanted to fight me and he is not really scared he would accept these terms I am willing to give him as they are above and beyond what the commission demands.

I should not have to prove myself as I have always done what the commission has asked me to do and I have never ever swayed from that. Never has there been a time where anything I have ever done has been in question. I stand behind my honor and my integrity. I stand below God and my Country. I stand with my fans and I hope Floyd is not really really a coward and will fight me and give the fans what they want to see. I am not afraid to fight Floyd anywhere anytime.

December 29, 2009 Statement

There seems to be concern from numerous members of the sports industry. from writers, to reporters, even other athletes, regarding why I am concerned with random blood testing. Here is what I would like to explain for the world to understand.

My concern has never been with someone randomly checking me with regards to blood or urine. I volunteered immediately to have my urine tested anytime someone wanted to, all the way up to the time I am walking into the ring. It was later brought to my attention and the attention of my staff that you can not test for Synthetic Growth Hormone through urine. You could only detect Synthetic Growth Hormone through blood tests. Before all is this blood testing and demands from other people I had never even heard of Synthetic Growth Hormone. I have never seen it before nor have I ever used it.

As I have stated before I have never used anabolic steroids nor do I even know what they look like.

My concern as a fighter is that there should be some limitations and agreements on how much blood they can take from someone prior to a fight. My other concern is how close to the actual fight itself can they take the blood. It is my opinion taking blood from a person can weaken you. I do not want to be in a weakened state when I enter the ring against any fighter.

I view using steroids, synthetic growth hormone, or any other illegal or banned substance as cheating. I would never cheat this sport that I love. I would never cheat the legacies of the great champions I have been blessed to challenge. I would never do anything to cheat such great champions as Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, all of the Mexican Warriors that I have been blessed to go into the ring and do battle with. I believe all of these men to have great honor for boxing, for their country, and for themselves. They are heroes to me. These are people I have great respect for.

There would be no way I would ever cheat them out of what they deserve.

We as boxers risk our lives every time we enter the ring. We risk our health. This is a very dangerous sport. There is nothing I would do to make me have an unfair advantage to my opposition. This would not only be unfair to their legacy, but to their health, which could cause permanent damage. I would not want to hurt anyone nor would I want to cause pain to their families.

I take my training very serious. I train 30 rounds a day to be in the best shape during a fight, so I can give the fans the best show I can. I eat very healthy like chicken and fish and a lot of rice.

In order to make these new heavier weight classes I have to eat more then I have ever eaten in my life. I actually have to eat 5 times a day and bigger meals than I have ever eaten before.

I eat foods that build muscle. I work out hard. I stay very focused and disciplined towards my goal. I focus on success.

God has graced me with my abilities and I give all glory to him. I try and let God use me as an example of what someone can be if they if they never give up, if they work hard and believe in themselves, and if they never give up on life itself.

I believe you must believe in God and never quit.

I say this and I hope you will all understand. "Winning is only as good as the Winner itself"
