I met Ben Carson back in 2012. He seemed like a smart man, and he obviously is because of what he's done in the medical field. But claims like this and the homosexuality and the pyramids really make me question his outright sanity.
Its most likely his bible that makes him say shit this stupid, theres no way he actually believes it.
I've always thought you were one of the more measured people here and it's nice to see some actual critical thinking skills being employed. The West Point story is iffy. Is it a complete lie? Maybe not, but the fact that there's even a question is a little concerning. As for the pyramids, he's a complete loon. It's a very interesting example of compartmentalization when someone who is obviously intelligent can be duped by their own brain into believing something so preposterous as a virgin birth or grain pyramids. We know where the stones were quarried. As it turned out, most of the sandstone blocks were quarried right there. Only the huge granite blocks that had to be used in som of the load carrying structures were cut at another site and shipped in.

We know where the workers, (yes workers, not slaves), lived, because they have found the community, not far from the site at all. A complete town, buried by 4000 years of sand. It was always there, we just had to find it.

New records have been discovered that shows that these were actually huge government projects. Skilled engineers were certainly the key, as well as skilled workman. If you anylize the actual construction, you can see that there is more there than just a pile of rocks stacked one on another.

One of the more fascinating items that has always intrigued me was their use of the Corbelled Ceiling that had to support the tremendous weight of the thousands and thousands of tons of everything above it. These were some pretty sharp engineers.
You'd be the lib-retarded jackass that needs the remedial lessons in reading and comprehension, Ekim the Inbred Chimp, because you're too damn stupid to comprehend the fact that it was Politico -- not Carson -- that lied, you Kansas hayseed nincompoop.

A military person like you should know West Point does not give out full ride scholarships. they accept applications, and if you are selected then you go there at no cost. Then you fulfill your military obligation. Originally Posted by i'va biggen

Ben Carson has just been repeating the story for 40 plus years. There is a cost (which makes your understanding questionable) and that cost is your time. Now for the vast majority of candidates, they intend to make the service their home so they may not consider it a cost but it is not free. You could say that some people get lucky. They do their time at the academy but cannot take the military assignment because of cutbacks, accidents, or something else. They get a great education, a degree, and no obligatory military service. Once again, that sounds just like a full ride scholarship doesn't it....to a lay person.

I can give Carson a pass on some of his recollections of a childhood. The West Point thing has some truth to it, but through the years has been embellished. Sure, he could have gotten in to West Point. They would have loved to have had him. But he chose another path.

All that being said, I think he is living in some type of religious fantasy world when he comes up with asinine statements such as his theory on the Pyramids at Giza.

He is entitled to his beliefs. But, he is not entitled to his own facts.

I simply cannot support a man for President who believes this sort of stuff.

By the way, the Pyramids of Giza were constructed in what is known as Egypts "Old Kingdom" period, some 2600 to 2100 years BC. Joseph, if he did indeed actually live, would have been Alive during the Middle Kingdom's later period.

Carson is off about 1000 years or so in his time table. Originally Posted by Jackie S

Nothing that Ben Carson professes that he "believes" in has so far disqualifed him from high office.
It is working out the left has Hillary, the right has Carson. Liars poker.

As noted, the academies don't offer full scholarships, because that implies that some people are paying some or all of their tuition.

In fact, there is no tuition paid by anyone, because all cadets and midshipmen are PAID to attend the academies - half the base pay of a second lieutenant.

Even if that wasn't clear to a 17 year old Ben Carson, he didn't write the book (or repeat the story) as a 17 year old. He was in his 40s and older when he made the claim about a scholarship. Didn't he do any research about West Point and how you get admitted?

And how do you get around the fib about Westmoreland offering him a full scholarship?

Westmoreland never would have said that because no military officer has that power. The best they can do is write you a letter of recommendation.

ALL military academy appointments come from the political branches. You must be nominated by a Congressman, Senator, or the President. Then the academies accept you.

So, the whole story is nonsense.
