I'm not offended by not playing at parties because I don't do it any ways. I never go in the back room or a separate room period. I was offended at the requests. But yes I was there and put myself in the situation. Doesn't mean it's okay to be an ass and ask for things that are not cool. I also wasn't referring to this one time gig, I was talking about a few instances. Getting screened and seen and was haggled in the moment, very uncomfortable easing out the door situations. Or maybe the hook feels less desperate for a couple of hundred dollars the second time, which as you have pointed out doesn't happen if the hook changes the rules of the engagement.
