they refuse to use Beto's name properly.. it is not Bay-toe, like most on the right say.. it is Beto, phonetically like get-oh.
mispronouncing one's name is an old tool utilized for centuries, to denigrate and show disrespect to an Individual.. a rather cheap move. if you disagree with the Man's policy objectives or stance, fine, but mispronouncing his name only shows you in a bad light.

Robert Francis O'Rourke was either given or chose to use the Spanish nickname "Beto" because he grew up in El Paso and his first name is Robert.
You did correctly describe the way he pronounces his own name. It's a little comical, the guy's using a Spanish nickname but he doesn't pronounce it correctly.
The Mexican American Democrats and independents I know say "bay-toe," accent on the first syllable.
