Romney likes Churchil better than Abraham Lincoln

Lets correct one piece of pure misinformation; Churchill was turned out in July of 1945. The war in Europe ended in MAY of 1945. Churchill was there for the surrender of the Germans.

As reported by the UK Guardian, the bust of Churchill that set in the Oval Office when George Bush was president now sits in the office of the British Ambassador. Obama DID have it sent back! Obama lied again! Another bust, not the same bust, was kept in the White House somewhere away from Obama.

I think there is more written on this topic here then ever written in the whole of the British press.

Didn't you know, journalists have to file copy, doesn't mean anybody is the slightest bit interested.

We buy newspapers to wrap up fish and chips, not to read.

ps the British press has recently been more concerned about telephone hacking, and ow many journalists are going to jail. There are prosecutions, quite serious.

The Daily telegraph has some good copy, but is also full of tittle tattle, wiff waff, and right royal nonsense. Originally Posted by essence

The statement that a bust was returned is true. The underlying meaning behind that which the right wing nut brigade would like us to believe is not. Originally Posted by Doove

but now i am further confused for the Editor of the editorial page of no less than the paper of record, the New York Times on July 27, 2012 stated this in a column:

"It’s true that the president removed the Churchill bust from the Oval Office, but he didn’t “send it packing” back to Britain. All he did was place it in the White House residence, outside the treaty room.

he called it THE Churchill bust, obviously a reference to the bust in question, not just another bust, not a bust found to fade the heat obama felt, but the bust. and it wasnt send anywhere according to him, it was placed elsewhere in the white house.

here is his column:

http://takingnote.blogs.nytimes.com/...ll-or-bust/?hp

maybe the column has some hidden obama/doove weasel word in there somewhere that fools one yet can be pointed to as cover. i'm not used to looking for weasel words, i am used to plain meanings and being truthful so maybe its my fault for posting this but it confuses me.

Boy how could you be so dead wrong on so many facts and still have the gall to debate me on anything.

Churchill was turned out of office while the war was still going on.

Who was the British Prime Minister when the Germans surrendered? It wasn't Churchill.. Originally Posted by theaustinescorts

Just an example of your wilfull distortions: the Germans surrendered on 8 May 1945. Churchill lost the election in July, 1945. In fact, he was attending the Potsdam Conference of the Big 3 in Potsdam, Germany, when he was turned out of office. Try to get your facts at least a little right, even if your opinions belong in a sewer.

Read Dinesh D'Souza's book about Obama's hatred of England. It used to be because the British captured his grandfather and tortured him. Thanks to the new book on Obama we know that never happened so why does Obama hate England?

Yes, Olympic security with the private firm contracted was a fiasco.

No, there won't be any security issues.

Yes, Romney would have been more polite had he not mentioned his cousin's little local difficulties.

No, the bus from Heathrow did not spend 4 hours getting to the village, it took one wrong turning which delayed it by a few minutes.

It's just filling the pages. I read the Daily Telegraph daily. A lot of it is bollocks, written by journalists just out of school, but if you ignore all that some facts can be found.

Churchill is one of the most galvanizing icons of the most violent century in human kind. The loaned bust should have stayed as a nicety if nothing else. How would we like it if Cameron sending back a bust of FDR that we lent them because FDR “displeased” the PM so. It seems the Obamas just luv, luv, luv insulting the British and the crown. Giving the Queen an iPod and giving her a little ole hug!

The British spend 2 days telling the world they're offended by Romney's comments. Originally Posted by Doove

Apparently you didn't hear the news. There is a Churchill bust in the WH. Always has been.

My point is that all these figures perpetrated massive war crimes, some more eggregious than others.

This is of course the reason why the US helped Nazis escape after the war. That is undeniable.

This is of course the reason why the US put the Nazis back into the intelligence/covert action game after the war. That is undeniable.

If you're going to persist in your childish, sanctimonius notions of moral superiority over the Nazis than take it up with the CIA and the American government....not me.

I'm not the one who helped the Nazis after the war...it was YOUR AMERICAN GOVERNMENT.
You say you are no admirer of the Nazis.

A couple of paragraphs later you attack those who consider themselves morally superior to Nazis.

You have previously said Churchill was no worse morally than Hitler.

Don't you detect some inner conflicts within yourself?

Please go and get help. It's not funny.
