NFL and Houston Texans Superthread: Are we ready for some football?

The Texans let go of Foreman and Blue. I hope their OLine is coming together. Lamar can't go a full season and they have no viable backup. We were lucky Watson didn't get hurt with those harebrained options BoB was calling.

They've got to have some kind of plan to pick up a RB from waivers or something. I've never been big on Blue but he seemed to be a team player and pretty reliable. At least you knew what you had. The RB roster currently reads like a who's who of nobodies. #2 has never seen the field at RB, only special teams. #3 has been an on again off again practice squad player.
I hope baby McNail doesn't fawk us. I was shocked about foreman but I also can't believe he was showing up late and shit

Honestly it would not surprise me if we picked up M Gordon mixed feelings there talented AF if he can stay in the damn field
Just got Duke Johnson from Cleveland

Johnson Might be a decent pick up.
He cost a conditional 2020 pick. Could be as high as 3rd round if he makes the game day roster 10 times. Seems to be most effective as a pass catcher out of the backfield.
Duke is serviceable but he might of gotten cut in late August/early Sept. There will be a lot of names available around that time frame but we need RBs now.

Well Andrew Luck retiring means that might have a chance at the division but.....The Jags are looking good.
Picked Luck up at the FF draft hours before he retired. Cost me the minimum so not upset. If you remember his Dad, this doesn't surprise me.
Joe Webb ain't cuttin' it. If any starting QB goes down, his team is in trouble but we'd really be hurting. When the teams make their final roster cuts we need to scour the waiver.

And still no Kap
You better sign another RB. Lamar Miller has an torn ACL. Goodbye!

Johnson isn't an every down back. That's what they need.

Marshawn Lynch and LeGarrette Blount are the top two UFA's available this morning as ranked by Fantasy Football Today.

Lynch is 33, Blount is 32 so age is a factor but either could probably signed on a 1 year deal.

I'm not sure why Lynch is ranked so high though. He hasn't been able to stay on the field 2 of the last three years.
Blount's best years were with NE so he should know some of the system. He's played all 16 games the last three years including an 1100 yd season in 2016 with The Patriots. He could fit in well and with the O line not looking very cohesive would understand blocking schemes and be able to protect in the backfield.
Jay Ajayi is an UFA and only 26 but he's coming off an ACL. There was some speculation last night that he had already been signed.

Melvin Gordon isn't close to reaching a deal with the Chargers. He could be traded but it would be a high cost and require signing him here for a long term contract. The upside is you'd have a damn good back who would be able to take the pressure off of Watson. Watson hasn't had that luxury.

Other options are pretty questionable.
Ajayi is the most likely IMO.

This is where having an interim GM really hinders the Texans. He doesn't have any clout or the ability to build lasting rapport. They're a blind hog looking for an acorn.

McCarron is expected to be back for the start of the season so Webb's days are probably numbered anyway.
They're not going anywhere this year either.
