What is the definition of the word 'may'?

Big "deal" - he'd only kvetch about other things.

And what does this have to do with Guideline #30, or the definition of "may"?

And I have no problem giving someone points if I think they deserve it. I just went thru a 2 day discussion in Pittsburgh where people could not understand that disciplinary matters happen behind the scenes. We try not to edit or remove posts, so people think nothing happens. You would be surprised how often you are wrong. Originally Posted by Pistolero

Why not make the "infractions part" of one's profile visible to all? Then, you probably wouldn't need to have gone thro' that 2-day discussion.

Why are we hiding disciplinary action on this board?

IMHO, if we are proud of what we have done, there is no reason to hide it.

There's no way they're going to start a poll about the word whore...

The second you go down that road, you'd open this board up to having a thousand polls to determine which words you can and cannot have here. You'd have to publish a list with those words so everyone could see it. You'd have to redo the polls periodically as the membership changes to see if they're still offended by it. How does context influence the usage of that word? Using just people who the word applies to is pointless, how do you know only providers are responding to the "whore" poll, or only American Indians are responding to the "redskins" poll, or only 3/64ths New Blood Spanish World Olds are responding to the "Hispanic" poll...

It's never going to happen.

The fact you're missing DJ, is that the board makes itself what it wants itself to be. It's not my fault, no matter how much you want to blame me for it, that these forums post the way they do. The members have decided to post how they want, if you want to change the tenor of the forums, then convince people to post how you want them to...because whining to the mods about particular words is ignorant...

Good luck...

Go for it. The poll, that is. The Ick absolutely needs more onomastic cringers. Simply can't have stuff like married hobbyists referred to as adulterers up on here, can we? Everyone knows providers aren't really whores, right? Utopia in Babel, even if speech suffers, a small price to pay for the comfort of euphemisms.

However, since it hasn't been done yet, and IMHO never will be, maybe they think it's no one else's business to allow the GP to know "who" gets warned/pointed/banned for "what"

Disciplinary actions between staff and other member shouldn't affect your participation thats why you don't have to see them.

Well, I have as many actual reviews as wakeup, 2 dogs, chicagoboy, dearhunter, and a couple of others.

I guess I'm still here to see how long eccie administration sits on their asses while assholes run roughshod over other members with their bullying tactics.

Something as simple as not being allowed to use the word 'whore' in a demeaning way would be a great start. Originally Posted by DEAR_JOHN

Let's add the word "may" to the banned list...once we find out what the definition is of course...

I'm fine with that. This being said, could board administration make a ruling based on the results? Originally Posted by DEAR_JOHN
