Private property. Part of the philosophy of "you didn't build it". According to Obama and his ilk, everything is due to government making it so. So government has a prior claim to everything. There are natural sites (not made by government) that are maintained with a small amount of government money. Some of them are being shutdown even if the ovewhelming majority of the money comes from private funds. Government is using that leverage of the strings attached to the money to shut them down.

Using the same logic, the government could shutdown the public school system at any time since most schools take some form of government money.

Was that just a "you didn't build it" reference? Out of context one liners like that have helped sink the conservative (meh) movement!
