It is selfish and naive for a man to risk not only his health, but the womans as well. Shocking are the pictures but they are there to hopefully make people aware the risks are not worth it.

So, all of the crap that has come down in the last couple of days just might prove to be minor when faced with the possibilty of Prostate Cancer.

I held my Wife's hand up untill the day she died of Ovarian Cancer. I just might eat a bullet before I would go through what that dear woman had to endure.

Ten years ago I was told the same thing you were. Fortunately for me I got a second opinion from a urologist who agreed I did have risk factors, but the significant morbidity of prostate biopsy was not then justified. So it's been a game of "watchful waiting". Earlier this year the risk factors reached the point of justification of biopsy as it is currently done..under ultrasonic imaging. It wasn't that bad. And then there's the waiting. Finally...BENIGN, baby...my new favorite word.

There's an old southern saying: "as serious as a dog in a boat"....when I walked back out into the waiting room after getting stabbed through my rectum into my prostate, every geezer out there was looking up hopefully...and to me them geezers looked like a whole bunch of dogs in a big ol' boat. The reading material in the waiting room was pure comic genius: American Cheerleader magazine. I had no idea there was such a publication.

Prostate cancer is strange...a very high percentage of geezers who die of all causes will die with prostate cancer but not because of it. Some prostate cancers are so slow growing that the main damage they do is psychological, like having a time bomb without knowing the time it's set for. A few are rapidly progressive.

Jacky S, I am terrified of doctors, and I pick mine with the same apprehension a bullrider would like to be able to pick his bull. I do think I picked a good 'un (as far as urologists go), PM me if you want his name.
