In terms of live bands, I'd have to say Fishbone, late 80s to early 90s. Next, Jane's Addiction, before all the reunion concerts.

GWAR was always fun. Although you'd be dyed red for a few days after.
My top three favorites: "Earth, Wind and Fire", Supertramp" and "Swing Out Sister"- but do they really qualify as a band? If not then my third choice would be "The Police".

But lately I've started listening to quite a bit 50's early era 60's classic jazz albums. Oddly enough about three months ago started playing Brubeck's "Time Out" album practically every day. That was a great piece of artistry.
And now for something completely different...

My all-time favorite band was Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass (yeah, I'm old). Followed by:

The Beatles
Steely Dan
The Police
Frank Zappa
Chicago

Favorite concerts:

The Police at the South Meadows (1983)
Pat Metheny Group at Armadillo (1978)
Count Basie at Armadillo (1980)
Miles Davis at the Paramount (1983)
Chicago at James Moody (2011)
Herb Alpert in Dallas (1996)

The two groups I mentioned as favorites (EWF and SOS) are musical descendants of Sergio Menes (and Brasil '66). That sound they created influenced a lot of later groups in the 70's and 80s.

Really surprised, not even one mention of New Kids on the Block. .

I'm a big fan of all the classic rock bands mentioned, but all time favorite is definitely AC/DC.
