Descendants of slaveholders

Yeah, I normally am center-right on most issues, but I fail to see the relevance of who is or is not a descendant of slave owners. You do realize that there are a not insignificant number of African-Americans who are descended from slave owners, and I’m not talking about people like we-President Obama who are biracial in their recent ancestry. It was certainly not discussed in polite society at the time, but there were significant numbers of actual slaves who were descendants of slave owners. It was not particularly uncommon for plantation owners to rape or coerce female slaves into sex. Obviously that resulted in quite a few slaves whose owner and father were the same person.
It would be more accurate to say that everyone posting in this thread aside from you just doesn't see the significance of it, and even you won't go into detail about why you think it's significant. Originally Posted by 1pittsburgh

Wow. It's clear from the plethora of posts above the leftists are very triggered with the fact that the only living President who is not a direct descendent of slaveowners is Donald Trump Originally Posted by berryberry

Martin Van Buren was the descendant of slaveholders.

It’s interesting that the only ones able to hear these right wing “dog whistles” are left wingers.
