Exactly. I can name a handful of potato vodkas but I have no idea about bourbon, whiskey, scotch...Eyes do tend to glaze over lol....It's simple really, scotch and bourbon are both whiskies with different mandated rules for production and "whiskey" is from North America and Ireland whereas "whisky" is from Scotland and they can be made from straight or combinations of rye, malted barley, corn, unmalted barley, or other grains; aging in American oak, French oak, or Hungarian oak changes the flavor profiles as well as charring casks, use of virgin casks, ex-bourbon/sherry/port/rum/wine casks. Then add in the changes that occur over 3-30 years of aging for readily available spirits and you get a vast variety of deliciousness. See, simple
