There are high crimes and misdemeanors in the proposed tariffs on Mexico
Every DPST knows that

Don't SomeOne follow the LSM - just listen for Stacy Abrams.

President Donald Trump is overstating the benefits of his threatened tariffs on automobiles and parts imported from Mexico while glossing over the likely harm to American consumers of substantially higher prices for new cars.

In tweets Tuesday, Trump exaggerated how much of the auto industry had moved to Mexico and inaccurately asserted that if he imposed a tax of 25% on all Mexican goods, all the automaker jobs would immediately return to the U.S. That's not the case. It actually would take years for auto assembly plants to move back to the U.S., if they did so at all, as companies gauge which countries are cheapest for production and whether U.S. tariff policies might be reversed after the 2020 presidential election.
The president also overstated the size of the U.S. annual trade deficit with other nations, leaving out services that the U.S. provides such as banking and tourism

DPST - Democrat-Progressive-Socialist-Totalitarian - would only be considered rude and insulting to an individual who agrees with their political precepts, but is ashamed of publicly endorsing those political precepts - there are many of those precepts, and have been posted in this Forum previously.

AnyOne is welcome to post their own reasons why"DPST" would be considered rude and / or insulting.

At least a two year old - defined as a psychotic with a good prognosis - will grow and mature. Hopefully into a reasonable functioning human being.

Back to Topic- Interesting how the Senate Republican leadership was deeply afraid of Trump's tariff play toward Mexico. That threat - poker bluff or not- seems to have had some effect on the behavior of Mexico enabling caravans of humans headed for the US welfare Line. How effective the end result is- remains to be seen. Hopefully Mexico will act against the caravan organizers and human traffickers to end passage through their country.

Poker bluffs only are effective when convincing to the bluffee. Was Trump bluffing about Mexico tariffs - I don't think so - and that is why the Mexican government took him seriously.

Theodore Roosevelt took an African adage - "Carry a big stick - You will go far" - and there is truth to that adage.

Republican Senators looking a bit spineless, puerile, and lacking in leadership based on principle.

Shocker - Trumps overstates

Shocker - Schiff and Nadler state they have the "evidence" in their McCarthyite sweaty little hands.
Shocker - Pelosi says "I*m done with Trump - after also accusing trump of high crimes and misdemeanors
Shocker- Kim Foxx blames Smollett behavior on "Trump Hate"
Shocker - AOC demands the New SoylentGgreen Deal be implemented immediately or all life ceases on Earth in 12 years.
Shocker - DPST's refuse to vote for the New Soylent Green Deal

And - "The Beat Goes On"!!! - by Sonny and Cher!

TWK - Thank you for the above post.

Thumbs Up.

I have my differences with Trump, and criticisms, however - he is duly elected POTUS, and the office deserves much more respect than the DPST's give. Still - a better choice for the nation than the alternative, IMHO.

No, not yet WTF. But I have read part of what's in the secret agreement Trump was flashing around today:

He acknowledged that in 45 days, if the United States does not assess that progress has been made, the Trump administration probably will ask again for a “safe third” agreement. But he said Mexico has not committed to that agreement, which would have to be approved by lawmakers and probably negotiated with other countries in the region.
“It would be applied if we fail, and if we accept what they tell us,” Ebrard said.
Ebrard said that Vice President Pence explained in their meeting last week that a “safe third” agreement, like the one between Turkey and the European Union, would have an “immediate impact on migration.”

During much of the negotiations, Ebrard said, “it seemed like it was third safe country agreement or tariffs.”
Alejandro Celorio Alcántara, a lawyer with the Foreign Ministry, said at the news conference that if Mexico needed to continue negotiations in 45 days, it would at least have time to come up with variations on a “safe third” agreement, which it did not have last week.
“Now we have time to prepare more, to present them with better options,” Alcántara said.

I'm a little skeptical about whether the violence in her city is attributable to the refugee crisis, because most of them must be law abiding citizens, except for violating immigration laws.

Anyway, true or not, I imagine Mexico wants a refugee crisis about like we do.

Does anybody know whether Mexico's system for determining whether a person is a legitimate refugee works faster than ours? The courts here can spend years deciding. I don't understand why Trump doesn't appoint a lot more immigration judges and start clearing these cases.

A lot of people just don't understand Trump, nor will they ever...especially the ones who have wrapped themselves so much in what the DNC, MSNBC, CNN, college snowflakes, and every community that takes any disagreement based on principle, faith, experience or preference as a matter of existential life or death, and "Damn the Torpedoes!".....What do we know about Trump and negotiations (deals)? He LOVES it, and CRAVES it like a heroin addict craves heroin....just look at what he has said about it in the past:

But before all that, there was just Donald Trump and the 11 winning negotiating tactics that are at the heart of The Art of the Deal. Each of Trump's tactics is listed below, accompanied by quotes from the book. Give them a try and see how they can turn your deals into winners, too.

1. Think big

"I like thinking big. I always have. To me it's very simple: if you're going to be thinking anyway, you might as well think big."

2. Protect the downside and the upside will take care of itself

"I always go into the deal anticipating the worst. If you plan for the worst--if you can live with the worst--the good will always take care of itself."

3. Maximize the options

"I never get too attached to one deal or one approach...I keep a lot of balls in the air, because most deals fall out, no matter how promising they seem at first."

4. Know your market

"I like to think that I have that instinct. That's why I don't hire a lot of number-crunchers, and I don't trust fancy marketing surveys. I do my own surveys and draw my own conclusions."

5. Use your leverage

"The worst thing you can possibly do in a deal is seem desperate to make it. That makes the other guy smell blood, and then you're dead."

6. Enhance your location

"Perhaps the most misunderstood concept in all of real estate is that the key to success is location, location, location...First of all, you don't necessarily need the best location. What you need is the best deal."

7. Get the word out

"One thing I've learned about the press is that they're always hungry for a good story, and the more sensational the better...The point is that if you are a little different, a little outrageous, or if you do things that are bold or controversial, the press is going to write about you."

8. Fight back

"In most cases I'm very easy to get along with. I'm very good to people who are good to me. But when people treat me badly or unfairly or try to take advantage of me, my general attitude, all my life, has been to fight back very hard."

9. Deliver the goods

"You can't con people, at least not for long. You can create excitement, you can do wonderful promotion and get all kinds of press, and you can throw in a little hyperbole. But if you don't deliver the goods, people will eventually catch on."

10. Contain the costs

"I believe in spending what you have to. But I also believe in not spending more than you should."

11. Have fun

"Money was never a big motivation for me, except as a way to keep score. The real excitement is playing the game."

If you understand that what he does with Mexico, Russia, China, North Korea...all fit into this framework one way or the other, you come one step closer to understanding what makes him tick. Do I like everything he does? No. Do I like they way he goes about doing what he does? No. But did I like everything about every President since I've been alive? No. I understand that ALL President's are fundamentally flawed human beings. My only task is to vote for the ones who will defend my values and interests best. Doesn't mean I like them as a person, it just means they are more likely to defend what I want defended more than the other guy. It doesn't get any more simple than that.

That's a thought provoking post Frisco, and it goes a long way towards explaining Trump's thoughts and actions, the good and the bad.
