I get all that. The people who fought for this country did so for people to peacefully protest, and be stupid. They also fought for people to ignore people who protest. That’s whats really happening here. Are you confusing Keapernick with Ali? Ali was bright and articulate and could debate his POV intelligently. When Keapernick said the US was an oppressive country and praised Castro and Cuba as a great country he lost all credibility. He’s an ignorant idiot. I’m all for the players taking to the street and protest peacefully. Try to make a difference there. Taking a knee is grandstanding. Just like some of them do when making a mundane play of which they’re paid to do. But don’t protest at an NFL game. Contrary to their claims, it’s not “their” platform. It’s a place where they work. They don’t own the field or the game. They’re highly paid independent contractors. They own their bodies and skills. Nothing more. When it trickles down to lower contracts, these social warriors will change their tune. And it’s going to happen. The game has changed in many ways. In my opinion, for the worse. I played it at a fairly high level in the early 80’s. I’ve been losing interest for years. I’d rather watch college or even a Good high school game.
But to claim one protest is connected to another is false equivalency.
That's what's happened here.
The people who died for the flag died for Kaepernick's right to take a knee.
I'm sick and tired of the NFL because of the way the game has evolved. Seems like every play involves any combination of: penalty, review or catastrophic season ending injury.
I preferred the game when NFL linemen weighed under 280 and kids got to grow naturally. Originally Posted by Yssup Rider
