Remember that the Democrats also had a flawed candidate. As Trump said just prior to the election "“I’m running against the single-worst candidate in the history of American politics,” he said as the large crowd chuckled in unison. “Can you imagine if you lose to a guy like this?""
As in 2016, we had to vote for what many considered to be "the lesser of two evils". I voted for Biden and you voted for Trump.
Very doubtful that Biden will run again in 2024. Yes, the Democratic party must decide whether it moves left or stays moderate. But the Republican party must decide whether it looks to Trump going forward as either the 2024 candidate or someone who has major influence in determining who the candidate might be or moving away from him. Over 70 million people voted for him.
Any idea who you think might be a front-runner on the Republican side for 2024?

Tom Cotten and Nikki Hailey are two names that come to mind but who knows where they will be in 3 years. I'd bet the house that more than a few Republicans than ran against Trump like Cruz and Rubio will be back for another try.
I think Donald Trump will fade from politics as fast as he came and there will be no second shot for Trump. Once people like Mitch are rid of him, they will be rid of him for good. Trump has nothing to offer the Republican party other than to show how you don't act as President. Without the "act", I think the results of the House and soon to be Senate results, show that Republican ideas were not rejected, only the man, Trump was rejected and not by that much all things considered. Remember, while the record books will say he lost, they will also say that he got more votes than any other Republican in history and increased not lost votes in literally every category of the electorate.
I have no doubt at all that without the tweets, the bluster, the narcissism, the name calling, he could have been re-elected on the issues.
It is obvious why the Democrats did so bad in the House and will fail to take the Senate ( I predict ). BLM and the violence it brought, Defund the police, just ask James Clyburn what he thought of that stupid move, it costs Democrats dearly. Then there was the female Democrat who said they must retire the words Socialism, Socialist and never utter them again ever. That also cost them seats and neither of those issues are going away in 2022 or 24 according to the Squad.
And keep on eye on Joe Manchin. If he sees the Democrats getting to crazy, I can see him changing to Independent ( W Virginia went for Trump ) and caucusing with Republicans especially if Democrats win both seats in the Senate and Commala has the tie breaking vote. I can see Manchin changing his vote to stop any foolishness like court packing, he said as much in public.
