Nick, there are valid reasons why only about 1/2 of first marriages do not end up in divorce, which means that 1/2 DO end up in divorce. IMO the goal is to reduce the "valid reasons" to a minimal, if not inconsequential, level to increase the opportunity for a successful marriage. That means first selecting a partner that has the fewest possible "warts" rather than planning on spending lots of time at the "dermatologist's" office.
I would say just you asking indicates a "valid reason" or two, and you know it. It's ok to say "no," and move on.... and its a helluva lot cheaper, and less stressful.
