There was a time in this country when public officials resigned as a matter of due course when caught involved in wrongdoing. In England, it is still done that way much of the time. Generally, when a British MP is caught dipping his wick or submitting fraudulent expenses or whatever, he resigns quickly and quietly while maintaining a stiff upper lip. Entwistle, the director general of the BBC, has just resigned. he has had a difficult few weeks with the eruption of a child abuse scandal, and the last straw was when one of the main news channels did not keep to the highest levels of journalism and named a person without doing proper checks.

I wish some executives of other news channels resigned whenever they made unprofessonal reports.
