The money laundering charges are what sticks out.

I have always wondered if taxes were paid on money collected by TOS
Silvermine, featured provider, gtg and hh admission, now fifty bucks for Guys room access.
Remember Krewman the undercover was a silvermine member

At least two people told me Indys doesn't have to pay taxes cause the money is a donation. I am not sure what church or charity Indys would be considered to have tax exempt status.

In that case I would like my employer to rename my paycheck to donation check so I can keep it all not just 2/3

Stig, I thinck you miss the point. LE is not going after the sites, they are going after the owners, and staff. Money laundering is real. If there is a connection between the dots it could get real ugly. Originally Posted by pyramider

That you have NOT read the Indictment?

See court records..It is public knowledge.

I am guessing we should start a good Gambling Bet on this one,, Who takes the odds?
They are going to track down the IP address for thousands of hobbyists? How easy is that? How about the risk of libel suits?
pyramider's Avatar
Nah, owners and staffers would be the targets. LE does not have the time or resources to track down 40K IP addresses, many of which probably go thru various filters to redirect the IP address.

Anyone thinck Stig needs to take a deep breath. relax, and get his taint waxed?

There is no such thing as a "safe" site.
Just ask Eric Snowden.

Also - any theories on why the police would claim to have shutdown a website that's still active? People are still posting on indys.

I'm still not 100% certain that this is a new bust - doesn't the date listed in the article coincide with the date from the original bust last year? I'm not sure why they wouldn't have a recent date if this was something new.

I didn't see any discussion threads about the situation over there - so I take it they're instituting a cone of silence about the matter? Because last time, I saw different threads about what was happening. Originally Posted by cabot

It's new charges around the same night (the GT).

You don't see stuff over there because they are deleting it. I know this because I posted it and it was deleted. It's PI's to do with as he wants (until the cops head up to Michigan and grab the box(es), presumably), but I think it's a big disservice to have more than a dozen counts over one's head, many of which relating to the site, and not letting people know. But hey, it's not my sandbox.

If you get your google on (and know that much of what happens in Cleveland is adjudicated in municipal court before county court), it becomes clear what happened that night and what's happening now. I'd say the size of the shitstorm they are going to have to overcome is directly related to how many of the current bench warrants for that evening's participants are served prior to it getting to trial. IANAL.

If you accessed Indys from home, the cops can subpeona your ISP for your identity. I don't know that they care about non-staff or non-providers, but you never know. I don't think they'll do anything beyond pull the plug, but again, IANAL.
So, the update indys bust update from Cleveland:

MalloryDoll pleaded guilty to DISORDERLY CONDUCT 2917.11 A(5) M4 (misdemeanor) and got fined about $385.

PI pled guilty to the following:

PROCURING 2907.23 - F5 (felony)
MONEY LAUNDERING PROHIBITIONS 1315.55 A(1) F3 (felony--3 counts)

and was fined 10k. Sentencing is set for 3/18.

Charges were dropped against everyone else who actually showed up for court. Several still have bench warrants.

Do with the information what you will. Despite the clear applicability, you still won't see it actually show up anywhere on www.indys.com.
