This Is Why WTF Won't Bet Against the Trump Economy

Look at real median household income young grasshopper. Since Clinton left office, it stagnated. Finally in 2019, it really took off. Unfortunately COVID stopped this trend dead in its tracks. And now with inflation in goods and services outpacing wage increases, it looks like it will be a good while before the middle class will again make the same gains that it did during the Trump years, pre-COVID.

Alas young grasshopper, you must learn to look at the actual numbers instead of seeking out articles that appear to confirm your own prejudices. Government revenues from the individual income tax and the corporate income tax are up substantially from 2017, before the tax cuts took effect. Did the tax cuts result in a decrease in the amount of federal government revenues over what they would have been otherwise? Well, yes. But so what? Taking money away from a wasteful and inefficient federal government and leaving it instead in the private sector, which is the engine of growth and prosperity in our country, is a good thing. Lower the growth in the rate of spending. Don't increase the level of taxation. Originally Posted by Tiny

I'm pretty sure the tax cuts for individuals during the George W. Bush and Donald Trump administrations were done in a way that made the tax system more progressive. The reduction in tax rates was more at the lower end than the upper end. You've gotten sucked in by the propaganda of Washington politicians who want high taxes so they can suck up more money to spend on pork.

Which is why I wanted a longer bet with that faux economic guru.

Did you read the post where lustylad pointed out how the Reagan tax cuts increased income inequality? That was hilarious....he was trying to make some other Uncle Milton point.

That is why it is imperative we have comprehensive immigration reform. Imho.

Some of our Trumpian friends, who believe China poses a huge threat to the USA, should reconsider some of their views about immigration. The Chinese are now abandoning their "one child policy" and encouraging their people to breed. If we are able to remain number 1 in the world, immigration will play a part.

I believe however that the Waco Kid had a good point. We should not be encouraging immigration of Central American gang members. Instead we should bring over engineers, scientists, doctors, nurses, mechanics and the like. And of course more immigrants from socialist autocracies like Cuba and Vietnam, as they tend to vote for Republicans. Finally, immigration of shapely, young Venezuelan, Thai, FSU and Colombian women must have a high priority, preferably with some new sort of temporary "stripper visa", so we can ship them back home when they get old and fat.
