Steelers 2024 thread

Kenny isn’t Fields on any level. Wilson is 36 and isn’t the future. Don’t bet on it Chizz. Maybe Wilson will start. Maybe the Steelers kept him out of practice to see Fields with their own eyes. He’s not disappointed. Originally Posted by bambino

and yes i agree wilson isnt the future, now could he be damn good for another few years? certainly. but he is the starter this year year no matter how good fields looks in preseason injury aside obviously

i would hope they throw fields in there each game for at least 5 or 6 plays to get a feel for how he is doing. if they dont, its going to be a real gamble to possibly throw out a big contract to him next year

alot of unanswered questions........it will be interesting

You wanna bet Mr Gristle? I can post many articles and listened to many sports talk shows that say Fields has a real shot at starting. But Tomlin fucked up the last QB “competition”. He kept the best QB on the bench for two years.

Bet what? That Wilson injured his calf?

You're having that argument with Chizzy

Yeah, Wilson is a vet with a long track record. This isn’t the preseason. It’s camp. Practice. And Fields has been getting snaps with the starters and Wilson isn’t. That matters.

Last thought about Fields starting. He probably suits what Arthur Smith wants from his QB. With the Titans, Smith used Tannehill in the running game. They made it to the AFC championship game. Fields is far more explosive as a runner than Tannehill. He also has a better arm to throw over the middle and deep than Wilson. Tomlin ultimately makes that decision. History tells us he’ll play it safe and prolly go with Wilson. But it will be a short leash.
its not even preseason......... lets not forget how elite and great kenny looked before it counted.........

wilson if healthy is da man Originally Posted by chizzy

I don’t think it’s a slam dunk. I think it’s an honest competition. Fields is certainly impressing his coaches and teammates. That’s a fact.
