you need to compare the start of the Obama administration and of the administration numbers. Trump just kept a downward trend going, the percent change under Obama is greater than Trumos. in fact, that's the case under every Dem administration vs Reopub administration since Nixon. I'm still not a fan of all the debt Obama packed on.

While I agree with your assertion that the SS formula needs tweaking and in fact should be done every decade.

The bigger problem imho is not just the birth rate decline but the success of Medicare with its life extending improved health of the elderly in this country. That is where the huge cost is coming....and you're right fewer workers paying for a larger and larger group of selfish old workers who did not have the foresight nor desire to pay more into SS and Medicare like they should have is the problem.

I could go on and on about the Reagan tax cut and entitlement increases of 1986 giving the illusion of a balancing of the budget but what it has done spur a whole group into thinking tax cuts always result in tax revenue gains.

Tiny suffers from this illusion Originally Posted by WTF

The USA is the largest oil and natural gas producer in the world. Look for Saudi Arabia and Russia to pass us by before long if Democrats continue to control the federal government. Yes high-paying jobs will be lost.

Thank you Tiny - and jobs will be lost to China - whose leadership plans to complete what Khruschev attempted - "We will bury You"!
And given teh DPST/ccp destructiveness of our representative democracy and country - they may accomplish just that.

Poor Tiny. Just doesn’t wanna admit Obama and Biden took and approved the necessary actions that pulled us out of recession and built a damned good economy. No one says the president is the great economic mind but at the end of the day he has to decide to do X vs Y. The economy was slowly growing for 7 straight years after being on a terrible downspriral and. A possible complete collapse. Did Obama come to the conclusions without help, of course not. But he had the good sense to take advise from people wiser and smarter than him on the subject and made a decision that resulted in a 6% drop in unemployment. If he had a 3rd term or if Clinton was elected it’s very likely the same unemployment numbers Trump got would have been reached. The fact that you can’t acknowledge that just shows how jaded your view is. Originally Posted by 1blackman1

Last 3 years vs Trump's first 3 years

Far from being the “Best economy ever”

Trump continually says that, “the U.S. is experiencing the best economy ever.” This is obvious gaslighting since the new results show that President Trump’s best year of job growth was 2.314 million in 2018 (the first year of the tax cut) but it falls short of any of Obama’s last three years. His boasts also don’t stand up when you peel the onion on GDP growth and realize that the Federal deficits during his Presidency will exceed any that were not impacted by a recession.

As far as future jobs, the intent of the Biden administration is to move jobs from one industry to another over a long period of time. The coal industry has been losing jobs for years. 90,000 coal mining jobs in 2012 and 46,600 today. Renewables now generate more electricity than coal. In 2016, Hillary Clinton proposed $30 billion for job training in new careers for those coal workers who were losing their jobs. Trump promised he would restore the jobs to the coal workers. Who had the better plan?

Biden obviously is losing support from those in the fossil fuel industries but he is doing what he said he would do during the campaign. And he was elected. It will be interesting to see how this plays out for him.

Tiny my dear friend, your avoidance of accepting that the Obama years made it possible for the laizzez faire policies of the Trump administration is astounding. Tax revenue in the Trump years lagged behind spending and caused larger deficits than in the Obama years.

I know you can bring yourself to give fiscal credit to democrats because somewhere along the way that was ingrained in you head as bad or defeatist but the reality is this.

The last 3 Republican presidents ended their terms starting a recession. Last three Democrat presidents started their terms with republicans hading over bad economies. During the last two democrats presidencies they turned around those bad economies and handed their successors lower deficits and debt and growing economies. Biden will be the third straight to do it.

Chart away my friend and come up with convoluted excuses for republicans failures during their terms and somehow state it wasn’t the democrats that actually achieved those economies but at night when you go to bed, you know the truth.

You should pray to your gods that democrats continue with their records of success. He use what’s true is the last three republicans have continued their records of failure. Originally Posted by 1blackman1
