Favorite older movie of all time

Caddyshack I don't know about. Even the people that made it wouldn't put it on any list except for the one having to do with fattening their bank balances. But FAST TIMES is one of those films that was the first notable appearance of many young actors whose careers caught on fire thereafter. Two other films in this category are AMERICAN GRAFFITTI and DAZED AND CONFUSED.

As many of you know I took a film degree at UT, and worked UC in the independent industry in the 1980s. One target I worked was Cannon films, which was an Israeli front for money laundering, arms trafficking, etc. It was pretty ugly, but I got to know a few industry people, and some are still my customers today in the agency. So this is my list of the best of all time categories.

best screenplay A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS
best cinematography BARRY LYNDON
best male performance PAUL NEWMAN/THE VERDICT
best female performance MERYLE STREEP/PLENTY
best director STANLEY KUBRICK/2001

Mary Poppins
Defense against what? The underwear bomber? Very soon I'm going to post a thread about what recently happened to me when I mistakenly left my briefcase in an apartment parking lot. Some derranged person called it in as a bomb, and you wouldn't believe what happend next....

Wake up Americans...there are no real terrorists coming. They can't afford the plane fair.

As for Mary Poppins, truely an awe-inspiring achievement by Dick Van Dyke, in that he managed to stay sober long enough to complete it before going back to being toasted for the next twenty years. AA should have its own award for film actors who stay sober long enough to carry off yet another film on schedule.
