Not surprised, but you're still missing the point. He was warned in the past about making the threats. And he continued to make very specific, very violent threats after being warned to cease and desist.

He was given every opportunity to apologize, or say he was being misunderstood. But he didn't do any of that. He continued engaging in the very behavior that got him flagged to begin with.

He could have also gone peacefully into FBI custody when they came to his house. That was his last chance. When he pulled a gun on the FBI, he was authorizing his own murder. It was suicide by treasonous stupidity.
