AP FACT CHECK: TRUMP'S DISTORTIONS ARE ACROSS THE BOARD
He lies about the number of factory jobs lost in the previous administration, and in the same sentence, he lies that they are all coming back. Jobs that have been lost to automation are never coming back.
He lies about the Veterans Choice program, claiming credit for it, when it was actually enacted under Obama.
He lies about the drop in cancer rates, and takes credit for it after proposing cuts in the budget. Congress ignored him and raised the NIH budget. Which had little to do with cancer rates. The major cause for this improvement is that less people smoke these days.
He lies about Iran's own money being returned to them, and claims Obama gave it to them in pallets and that the money paid for missiles that attacked an American air base. No such thing happened, and the missiles predate the Iran nuclear agreement.
He lies about how he cleaned up our air, when it's actually gotten worse since he took office.
He lies about ISIS being 100% destroyed, while his own defense secretary admits that the fight is still ongoing.
He lies about the impeachment timeline and claims to have released an exact transcript, when it was really a rough transcript. He then goes on to lie that other countries weren't helping Ukraine with military aid, which is resoundingly false.
He lies that the U.S. is energy independent, but we're not. We still rely on millions of barrels of oil from the Persian Gulf, because our shale oil is unusable in many of our refineries unless it's blended with heavier imports.
He lies about completely rebuilding the military, when a lot of the recent improvements began under previous administrations, like the Minuteman 3 missiles and the F-35 fighter jet. And the improvements that started during the Trump administration won't be implemented for years.
In short, lies, lies, lies, and more lies. It would be totally hilarious that his supporters believe in him more than they believe in actually credible sources of information, if it weren't so Orwellian.
