For the record, I never said it was less classy. I merely asked a question. Would a true Courtesan Advertise? Two things: First, I would assume that running in such an elite circle of men that she would be passed around discreetly. Second, I doubt she would want to be the least bit visual in the public eye...probably would not want to be recognized.

Less classy? No. A different Class? Yes. Originally Posted by Nicole Preston

Yes, being 'passed around' is what I envision happening in 'exclusive' circles.

Sorry if it came this way. To me, it just felt from the tone of the overall discussion that advertising is something less desirable than lack of it. I was curious if it was just my perception. Originally Posted by Thais

If you *really* want to see a representation of this word on the screen, you should rent "Serenity" the movie or "Firefly" the TV series, from Joss Whedon who also created Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse among other things.

There is a character who is known as Inara, a "Companion", a high-society courtesan who really does justice to the concept in my opinion. [And, she pilots her own space ship!]

Personally, I would love to meet someone like her!
Well, now I'm totally confused.
If it is background, I'm a Courtesan.
If it is perception of myself, I am pretty low on the totem pole.
If it is marketing, I'm middle of the road.
If it is perception of my beholder, than I'm the greatest ever!

I don't know where I fit in, in this world. I get very little business, like I'm a total untouchable. I had one, that's ONE new client in the past 6 weeks. My inbox is always empty. No matter how I advertise, nothing! At the same time, most all my clients have become regular. They just LOVE me! I even had one client tell me when we met that he was retiring and I was his last. He canceled his P411 account and on our first meeting he told me I would never see him again. He even went as far as canceling his "hobby" phone. Well, he's seen me about 6 more times. Each time he says it's his last, but he keeps coming back. I must be doing something right. And at the same time I am doing something very wrong when it comes to marketing and getting business. Go figure?
If it is marketing, I'm middle of the road. Originally Posted by Nicolette Bordeauxva
