Citizenship Reminder! MAGA!

He's playing coy and talking out of both sides of his mouth.

He should just say he's going to revert to family separation for mixed status. That's the simplest way to say it.

Easier to sell to people when you package it as a choice Originally Posted by HDGristle

Your argument is intended to gin up sympathy for people who came here illegally and got into relationships with people who didn’t. Tough luck. They should’ve thought about the consequences of putting down roots in a country they entered illegally before they did so, and the possibility that the law would eventually catch up with them.

Not my argument, but it is true that his policy is pro-separation, though. He's clearly ok with it, he just doesn't want to say it because he wants to obfuscate his role and actions. He is choosing to create more paths to separation.

I'm actually 100% ok with family separation. He just lacks the balls to say it this time and tell people the hard reality because it's a tougher pill for others to swallow.

It’s a necessary evil, but doesn’t have to be. If someone’s family is the most important thing to them, which it should be, going with whoever is illegal and gets deported is a no brainer. Stay behind and liquidate assets, then go join them wherever they are.

Or find a way for them to return legally. You're also placing your value system on them. There's a sacrifice play for the future you're neglecting.

There are many paths he could go. He's not choosing those. His focus is on a wide swath of removals so he's only playing a small part of the available field.

Bonus points if you can explain why Lusty's magnet removal argument is bullshit.

There’s already a way to return legally.
If anyone is expecting the price of groceries to come down after Shitty Hitler deports 75% of the agricultural industry, that person is not very smart. In fact, that person might just be a moron.

Meanwhile, the valid U.S. citizens, nationals and permanent residents of working age are still subject to U.S. taxation. And the permanent residents need to returnperiodically to maintain their status.

So is liquidating assets the right call?

This is where the "it depends" pops up. This is a potentially very complex web. You're still only playing in about 5% of it.

Trying to pretend that the .25 cheaper carrot is directly related to an undocumented worker raping people is hilariously slippery slope. The rapist could be 3rd cousin Sal, who's a 4th generation American citizen. Or do you have some minority report tech that tells you who will and won't commit crimes?

We know you don't. So stick with the facts. You're safer there. We all are. Can't afford to go around nuking imaginations.

Trump said, "I don't want to be breaking up families, so the only way you don't break up the family is you keep them together and you have to send them all back,"
He wants to deport people. You say he wants to give them choices. That statement doesn't give then choices.

you have to send them all back
First off, if we're talking mixed status... where are we sending them all back to when some of them are from here?

And second, there's choice and an illusion of choice.

You're being sold vaporware.

Do you think he can end birthright citizenship on Day 1? Can we agree that's not within his power?

If the country were to go that direction, does your birth certificate address the citizenship of your parents?
