Not a big surprise since Nexstar/Tegna merger/buyout will require FCC to change their station ownership regulations. Thus Nexstar is more than willing to comply with Brendan Carr's threats, uh, suggestions.

The FCC's 39% rule is a regulation that limits a single entity from owning TV stations that collectively reach more than 39% of U.S. television households, aiming to prevent media dominance.

If the Nexstar/Tegna deal is completed, the combined company will have a total of 265 television stations in 44 states and the District of Columbia, representing 80% of U.S. television households.

if Sinclair was worried about mergers and the FCC why would they continue to not broadcast his show? in 38 markets in the US. it is ABC's call to put him back on the air. Sinclair can still refuse until Kimmel meets their demands and one is Kimmel must make a public apology.
