Definition of a Courtesan and her Clientele...Agree?

Isn't there some marketing rule called, "never let them see you sweat?" Originally Posted by Ansley

Well considering that I'm not a courtesan, HDH, Elite, or even "classy", I probably shouldn't even offer an opinion on the topic...but really it surpassed being ridiculous 4 pages ago Originally Posted by Nicole Preston

I don't know where I fit in, in this world. I get very little business, like I'm a total untouchable. I had one, that's ONE new client in the past 6 weeks. My inbox is always empty. No matter how I advertise, nothing! At the same time, most all my clients have become regular. They just LOVE me! I even had one client tell me when we met that he was retiring and I was his last. He canceled his P411 account and on our first meeting he told me I would never see him again. He even went as far as canceling his "hobby" phone. Well, he's seen me about 6 more times. Each time he says it's his last, but he keeps coming back. I must be doing something right. And at the same time I am doing something very wrong when it comes to marketing and getting business. I would imagine that most of us do not fit in to any courtesan/HDH/elite companion etc etc ideals anyway. Molds are much more fun to break than they are to fit in .

Yeah, I can't afford any of you guys.
I'm just here because I like you.
Anyone else notice that, just like the HDH definition discussion(s), you gals seem to care a whole heck of a lot more about this than the guys do.... Originally Posted by atlcomedy

It also plays a more powerful role in the life of the provider than the patron. For the gents it's over when the date is, until the next time they want to scratch an itch. For the ladies, it's an ongoing consideration that hovers around her life.

atlcomedy had a good point. Guys do not care, nor do secure women. Insecurity is the only reason why this is high on the emotional meter.

I'm not a big fan of most lingerie but if it makes her feel more sexy I'm for it.

Blush.
I don't think it's an insecurity issue, and I should know - I'm very insecure.

I think it's a question of where you put your focus in running your business. For example to be a successful call girl, one must focus on looking hot, having a fantastic body, and great bedroom skills. To be a successful escort, one must also be able to carry here self well in public settings. To be a successful Courtesan, one must be able to discuss a variety of subjects, be diplomatic, compassionate, etc.

A courtesan doesn't have to be the hottest girl around or have a rockin' body. She probably should have decent bedroom skills, but these are of lesser importances.

I want to be considered a courtesan because I don't want to try to compete on looks, body, and bedroom skill - yet, I feel that my one on one people skills are my strong point. I am confident in my ability to charm. I'm insecure about my looks.

Plus, a courtesan doesn't have to worry as much as she ages. External beauty fades, internal beauty never does.
I just found this article. This is just one woman's definition. She uses the word "escort" to describe what I call a "call girl."

http://www.refinery29.com/a_minute_w...an_debauch.php

"The term tends to be used to distinguish this form of sex work from escorting. If you call for an escort, she'll show up, you'll exchange small talk, you'll have a sexual encounter, and then she'll leave. Courtesans work differently. There's usually a lengthy screening or introduction process, and since most client relationships are long-term, courtesans are generally paid for larger blocks of time, sometimes with a retainer. The relationships themselves can be fairly substantial, or have the illusion of substance, and since each client is time-consuming, courtesans tend to keep their client bases small. From a client's perspective, a courtesan is ideal if he wants to minimize risk, or if he's seeking an ongoing sexual relationship without any romantic commitment. The financial stability is great, and if you fear marriage like I do, it's good. But there are negatives, and I always feel obliged to stress the negatives when I describe this work. For one, you're always on. You can't feel bloated or tired or jetlagged, and you don't have much time to yourself. The relationships tend to be very one-sided because you're paid to be an excellent girlfriend, not a real girlfriend, and excellent girlfriends don't unload their personal baggage. Since you're expected to adapt to your clients' schedules, it's difficult to have a life of your own, let alone a career of your own. Your identity can become malleable. You worry about being discovered. And you are, by your nature, disposable."
