The problem with a VPN is that most of them work with LE and will "unmask" you if there's a subpoena. Now, you also have to think about whether or not it's worth the time for them to chase you down. Are you just a hobbyist? If so, then it's probably not worth it to them. Are you engaging in human trafficking? Then yes, it's probably worth them chasing you down.


Just realize that a VPN won't anonymize you if the person on the other end wants to know who you are bad enough.
