So what, are you guys now saying there was no crime committed because of a damn facebook photo? So Zimmerman is a "hero" because he killed a boy that looked like a thug? Is that all it takes to rally you up on the "free Zimmerman" boat? These pictures prove NOTHING except that there's a lot of closeted rascist in America who feel powerful posting negative comments online behind some fictitious persona! You can't kill someone for who they MAY grow up to be or for how they dress. This isn't some new age Eugenics bullshit. you can't kill or imprision black youths because you're fearful that they'll become criminals. Create a system that fosters inner city education and anti gang programs if your fear of violence is that great. Institute some form of social welfare that isnt a cycle of entrapment and regurgitation undermining the desire to work. Create a society that has more jobs for those who may lack the education, but still have the desire. Do something! Vigilante murders is not the answer!

My issue here is no longer with Martin and Zimmerman. The incident brought to light much larger issues as it relates to ethnicity, stereotypes, perception, racism and the lack of justice in this country.

By the way, this is the other witness

Haven't heard much from the Rev. Jesse Jackson on this one. Or the responsible adult(s) who let the kid go out walking after dark with a hoodie on, in a complex where they knew crime was prevalent, and neighborhood watch was active. And I can't see why they're having all these hoodie marches...what kind of message does that send to other teenage black boys?
pantsontheground - do you have evidence of this? if he was pummeling his face like you claim, i would think the conservative stations such as Fox would have already aird that information.

3. The cries for help from Martin - Martin's father said the screams were not his son.

When this goes to court, she will look like a unreliable witness.

I have said it before, Zimmerman was stupid for approaching Martin.

You got links to back up you claims or did you watch this on TV?

I would like to see where you got your information, not throwing shade, I'm just curious what sources would make claims like his father says that boy yelling in the call.

Dad's interview starts at 4:11
Honestly it seems like the Zimmerman defense is just grasping at straws.
Do you not believe:

- Martin was in a physical fight with Zimmerman?

I'll say this:

1. None of this would have happened if Ninja cop wannabe Zimmerman had been minding his own business. I've got no problem with neighborhood watch but I'm unaware of any fact or evidence that indicates that the black kid was doing anything wrong other then being black and wearing a hoodie. Looks like he had gone to the store to get a bag of skittles and some iced tea. No weapons, no drugs, no burglary tools in his possession. Zimmerman, instead of doing what the dispatcher told him to do (back off and don't follow) confronts the kid and then kills him when he starts getting his ass kicked.

2. Everybody is talking about this "Stand your ground" law. Zimmerman wasn't standing his ground, he was following this kid and precipitated the confrontation. The stand your ground law was designed to protect homeowners defending themselves against intruders. It wasn't designed to protect boneheads like this Zimmerman who shoots somebody after initiating a confrontation. Frankly, it sounds like the kid was the one "Standing his ground" he just forgot to bring a gun to the fight.

3. Since when is it OK to shoot somebody when you are losing a fistfight that it looks like you started by not being smart enough to mind your own business? I don't see anything anywhere that indicates this Zimmerman guy got much more than a bloody nose after getting knocked down. Nothing about him needing any kind of medical treatment. No allegations that the kid was hitting him with a weapon or had any sort of weapon. I just wonder what the reaction of our resident right-wing crazies here on the board would be if it had been a white kid knocking the snot out of a black man who started the fight and the black guy pulls out a gun and shoots the white kid. You guys would be screaming for a rope.

4. The part I really do not understand is how the cops were not smart enough in this situation to do what is almost always done in any situation that involves a shooting that is possibly justifiable based on self-defense: arrest the shooter, take the statements, do the investigation...and turn it over to the district attorney's office for a grand jury referral. Do what they always do: let the citizens of the jurisdiction hear the evidence and decide whether this Zimmerman guy should be indicted, charged and tried for a crime. That's what a jury does.

Flame on.
