Did Texas "Re-open" too Soon?

...
Not really, normal body temperature is 98.6 some people are a little lower. So 100.4 is low grade fever. 104 to 106 is convulsive and knocking on deaths door. Originally Posted by Levianon17

So, at 100.4 by their thermometer a person would be 100.4 + 3.6 (thermometer error) = 104 degrees.

Went for a haircut yesterday and my temp was taken. Not at the gym though. Originally Posted by SpeedRacerXXX

people probably rushed to buy these devices and since they can be off several degrees high or low you'll have people who thought they weren't sick but were and people who were sick but didn't know it.
My guess is much of the stuff is made in China. Sadly, that include US policy.

I'm not concerned about periodic spikes, and having lab reports 3-4 times a year gives me some extended averages. I get the reports and read them.

The following comes from the CDC link. It tells why the CDC death count is always less than the death counts published by other media sources.

"The provisional counts for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) deaths are based on a current flow of mortality data in the National Vital Statistics System. National provisional counts include deaths occurring within the 50 states and the District of Columbia that have been received and coded as of the date specified. It is important to note that it can take several weeks for death records to be submitted to National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), processed, coded, and tabulated. Therefore, the data shown on this page may be incomplete, and will likely not include all deaths that occurred during a given time period, especially for the more recent time periods."

The CDC death count can lag up to 3 weeks (see above quote) behind other counts while waiting to update. The CDC death count is provisional.
If you want official COVID deaths, it's currently running about 2/3rds the numbers being tossed around.

Official number from the CDC as of 5/15 is 60,299

Once things are at my comfort level, I'll just sell a lot of this shit for probably just pennies on the dollar and go back to the gym. For now though, I'll just continue to avoid people as much as I can.

I have the luxury of working from home so other than taking my kids and dog to the park for some fresh air on occasion, I'll pretty much just be a fake ass not remotely rich and not crazy as fuck Howard Hughes but be just like a shut in like him for now. LOL

He was one of my old college roommates and he has always been a really gassy bastard. The plant diet just made it worse for her and his family. His wife and kids probably all need gas masks now because he said he's going to keep the diet. I feel sorry for them because that will be one smelly ass house. LOL

As it was, I was replying to another post about what is and isn't being counted as "official" Wuhan Virus deaths and linked to the site where the "official" provisional count of deaths by the CDC was.

And as another poster pointed out "official" does not mean "accurate" in any way.

Simple statistics are indeed being used/misused right now largely as a political matter.

Like the yearly influenza outbreak, we will never have very accurate numbers of total cases, infections, infection rates by area, and total deaths.

Only approximations that to date are certainly on the low end of the spectrum from many of the projections.

Did Texas re-open too soon. I think based on numbers it never should have fully shutdown to the extent it did. This all should have been handled regionally as hotspots broke out.

Shorter term isolation recommendations and far less impact to the economy as a whole.

Numerous people have brought up the difference between the CDC number and the number seen in various outlets. Just pointing out why there is a difference.
As for "official" numbers, those will sort out in the long run. I don't believe there is an ongoing plot to raise or lower the numbers. I think that cases are more likely under counted to a degree because of a lack of testing but I don't know how that would affect the overall numbers of deaths.
I think going after "hot spots" when the virus has 14 days to incubate would cause a wider outbreak because it would be spreading before you knew it was there.
Stats are stats. Tough to misuse them if they are identified and explained how they relate to the subject they are being used for.
Did Texas reopen too early? We'll find out.

For the overall "official" and "accurate" numbers that's certainly going to play out over time and it'll be the final crude mortality rate of Wuhan Virus towards the end of first year cycle will be largely what's looked at.

And numbers are numbers, given that they are subject to "accuracy", but how you choose to make "stats" out of potentially "inaccurate" numbers is also a game in and of itself.

As I've posted repeatedly, "death rate" is a great number for people to throw around without defining it.

Case Death Rate, Infection Death Rate, Crude(population) Death Rate. And are the numbers based on Reported Deaths or Provisional Deaths, etc. etc?

People will continue to use their "choice" of numbers to make whatever statistical case they choose. And none of them will be "accurate"

Did texas open up "too soon" - only with a definition of the criteria expected to occur in the event of opening - and retrospective critical evaluation - will answer that question.

No One has published definitive criteria for standing down the public health mandates imposed by governors, and any criteria are suspect - as the definitive numbers do not exist as far as infections and case mortality.

various point of view exist - and for sure the DPST's will go use the LSM to Lie like crazy regarding what happens after re-opening - their political aim is to shut-down America until the Nov 2020 election - devastate the economy - so they can move in and impose further control by the government.

Orwellian - are those DPST's!

Texas has the second largest population, and the lowest "Morality" rate.

Good to Know!!!
Interesting that the socialist states are in debt for Billions of $ - and alrady screaming for federal bailouts for their financial indiscretions - besides being the highest taxed states in America.

Which speaks to flagrant mis-managemnt on the parts of the NY and kalifornia state governments.

I have no interst in One$ of my taxes going to those miamanaged states.

Toss out the damn socialists - get in a state leadership that understands to people earning and working create tax revenue - and tax revenue is not the gross state product of ny /kalifornia.
