I tend to agree but, I am not so sure. And, I will tell you that my thinking on whether Trump can get the GOP nomination is shifting. He isn't out in front by a little bit. He is way out front with no indication of any loss of momentum. Think about it. If he wins in Iowa and New Hampshire, he is going to win a couple of weeks later in South Carolina as well. Then on March 1, we're looking at a half dozen southern states in the mix...where Trump is issuing all the simplistic sound bites that our conservative contingent on the boards find so alluring.I would be very pleased if you are correct. It seems like we are living in a weird time warp where we have a chance to do the impossible. Unfortunately, things could turn around and he could flame out. Telling a pollster you might back Mr. Trump, may the Lord bless him, is not the same as actually pulling the trigger and doing it. Plus, unfortunately, he may have peaked early. At least I have a little hope, whereas a month ago I was just happy to see people like you upset.
It could happen and with Hillary apparently already fading, who does that leave for the dems? I think its more likely the country would elect Trump than Bernie Sanders. Self-admitted socialists don't win presidential elections. Joe Biden? I think Biden is a good man but he's a fuck-up who talks too much.
I keep trying to think of what might happen to slow Trump's momentum and I can't think of what that might be. If what he has done up to this point (insult war veterans, issue racial slurs, attack women, act like an arrogant bully, issue simplistic absurd pronouncements as solutions for extremely complex problems) hasn't slowed him down, then what is it gonna be? The fact is, the more ridiculous and over-the-top he becomes, the more the whacks adore him.
He could be the next President, god help us all. Originally Posted by timpage
