Recommendations....

Looking for recommendations on good places to dine
in Omaha during my stay this week?
All depends on what kind of food you like and where you're staying (if you want to travel far).

M's Pub (my fav) in the Old Market is great.
Pasta Amore in Rockbrook Village is the best Italian restaurant in Omaha.
Steak? You can find a steak anywhere, but Gorats is the best.
Hiro or Blue for sushi, Hiro's for Chinese.
for a good steak I love Texas Roadhouse. Blue Sushi downtown is the best. I don't care for the other locations. The Smoke Pit has great BBQ. If you want some fried chicken or a burger and a cute atmosphere head north to the Alpine Inn and you can watch raccoons eat the leftover chicken pieces while you eat. Also if you don't mind a lil trip outside of town to Crescent, Iowa there's a really cute place called the Pink Poodle and they have some of the best prime rib ever!!!
http://vmertz.com/ - Amazing place . . . beats most any restaurant in the same genre (Contemporary American) IMHO throughout the Midwest - even bests a lot of Chicago contemporary places in my book. Great flavors . . new manager, now even better all around. Try one of the Chef's tasting menus, or the Prix Fixe. A lot of locally sourced ingredients (organic produce). The tenderloin was so good I had an orgasm.

Oh - and Dixie Quicks Magnolia Room! It is an experience for the taste buds . . . very unique, amazingly good, go for brunch.

Kisses,

- Jackie

Flat Iron Cafe. A little higher priced, new special menu items all the time, and the food is truly incredible. Lower priced, more relaxed atmosphere, and an expansive menu that has something to satisfy almost any craving anytime of day is Wheatfields. Biggest problem with Wheatfields is walking past all the desserts resisting temptation to your table.

Just go down to the Old Market and explore, although it was more fun when they still had the Howard St. Tavern and live music. Loved to play there.
I think the best Italian Ristorante is Lo Sole Mio website http://losolemio.com/

It is in a residential area just North of I80 and west of I480. It is a family owned business, and the only downside is they don't take reservations. You can find a map to get there on the website.

Upstream Brewery is also a good brew pub, with 2 locations 1 in the Old Market, and one clear out west on West Center around 170th.

Another interesting place for a little bit liter fare is Brix at Village Point. They have a big wine, and distilled spirits store that also sells some micro brew beers. Next door they have a wine bistro, which they have also have a chef make some food. http://www.brixomaha.com/wine-lounge/ is the Wine Lounge part, and you can click on the main page to see about the store. The Wine Lounge has over 60 bottles of wine that you can taste or get a full glass. Neat place if you like to try different wines.
I also forgot about a Katies Greek Restaurant & Taverna, they have really good Greek food, it is also a family run restaurant. It is located just south of Dodge on 40th ST

http://www.katiesgreek.com/index.html is the website.
Thanks everyone for all the recommendations
I've arrived in town and brought my appetite!
