IMessage. Help :-(

Does anyone know what causes IMessage to stop working on iPhone?
Yes I have contacted my carrier also did a hard reset still does not work. Can anyone suggest anything?

Probably have but in case,
Settings > Messages > iMessage make sure it's turned on.

And turn airplane mode off
