Is eccie having server problems?

oldmarine's Avatar
Lately the page loads are taking a long time, 15-20 seconds, and I am wondering if eccie is haveing web server issues. It happens mostly in the late afternoon but today it is happening in the morning. Other web sites seem to be working normally so I don't think it is my isp. Any insights? Is any one else having the same issue?

I too have experienced intermittent lags with the site.

I'm curious why there has been no comment in this thread by the administrators?

Yes, that makes sense. I was just making sure that nothing else was happening.

If this forum is on a shared server, it will get major lag due to sharing the MySQL database and bandwidth. The only way around it is to go dedicated all the way when it comes to vBulletin.
Over 2,000 visible members on Mother's day??? OMG and LOL!.

yes it is slow today for me too. I checked other sites and message boards, even at the same co-location facility and did not experience the same lag (10 -30 seconds).

I have it on good authority that they will be moving from their current Tandy 9000 with 256k ram to a load balanced set of servers in the near future.

Who knew it would be so popular? and if you are like me, I have 4 or 5 eccie windows open at a time. Each one it it's own session on the server.

Sorry owners. It is time to pony up again and show us that you better than the previous big board.

It is my understanding that a move is planned to a set of servers dedicated solely for this site. The spreading of the load of activity among the components (database, web server, etc.) will definitely help.

We're as anxious as you to get moved...just waiting for our new "home" to be finished. Should take care of our growth well into the future. We'll get the word any day now.

As cpi put it: It's time for the owners to "pony up"! That's why I'm STILL driving my 62 Eldo.
FYI-eccie has always been on it's own server. Last year we outgrew the "entry level" dedicated server our host offered. Then later, we added the max amount of memory.... Then later, we moved to the top of the line server our host offered.

Now, we've outgrown our host.

As a few alluded to, we are now moving to a multiple server setup so we can separate the web server from the database and balance the load. It's an enterprise solution, and with a little luck on our side, we'll hopefully be moving at the speed of light in the not-so-distant future.

In the meantime, cpi, shut those fucking windows. One per customer you selfish bastard.
