Indiegogo/Kickstarter crowdfunding sites, in general.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with any of the crowdfunding sites out there?

Or do you know anyone who has given this a try for fundraising? I'm just asking this as a question in general.

I'm very curious about it.

I bought a T-shirt to help defray some guy's legal expenses, who was jousting with the NSA. The shirt describes the NSA as "the only part of government that actually listens." But I don't know anything useful, in terms of how much money was actually raised and so forth.
