he did support bidens withdrawal, but not in the way how biden handled it.

if trump was still president, he wouldn't have pulled out the troops unilaterally. he listens to the generals. He also has goals and metrics to achieve. if those weren't met, there likely would have been delays.

giving a deadline date is still a bad idea.

We had to leave. Trump would had our people and resources out before 5/1. The summer is the so called fighting season for the Taliban. Biden pulled troops and contractors out in the middle of the night. The Afghan government and military were shocked. Not to mention Americans and Afghan allies that were left stranded. Don’t bring Trump into this. Biden should have followed Trumps plan, as he should have with our border. Disastrous results on both. See the pattern?
Trumps plan was probably an incoherent disaster like everything else he blabs about.

Actually would be shocked if there was any plan at all.

I doubt a may 1 withdrawal is possible due to taliban behavior. they were doing a bunch of suicide bombings in a bunch of places, and they were sitll fighting in many places. its better to have a residual american force in place in afghanistan. It is primarily for moral support, material support, air support and training for the afghan army.

the reason why the afghan army quit fighting or surrendered is because they lost moral support from america. america's leaving, why should we fight? support was starting evaporate. thats their thinking.

what biden did is pull root and branch from the afghan army. he did not support this at all. i believe he said that after bin laden was killed, it was time to pull out. obama nixed his idea.

Trump calls off secret Camp David meeting with Taliban, Afghan leaders

https://www.militarytimes.com/news/p...fghan-leaders/

Trump’s tweet was surprising because it would mean that the president was ready to host members of the Taliban at the presidential retreat in Maryland just days before the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. More than 2,400 U.S. troops have been killed since the U.S. invaded Afghanistan to go after the Taliban, which were harboring al-Qaida leaders responsible for 9/11.

Canceling the talks also goes against Trump’s pledge to withdraw the remaining 13,000 to 14,000 U.S. troops from Afghanistan and close U.S. involvement in the conflict that is closing in on 18 years.

Remember when his dumb ass wanted to meet them here on September 11th?
