I have been to Pearl Harbor and paid my respects more than once.

The current generation just does not understand. One of my children remarked that people told her she had to go to Pearl Harbor and did not understand why they insisted so until they were there.

I was fortunate enough to be stationed at Naval Station, Pearl Harbor for the 50th Anniversary of the cowardly attack on Pearl Harbor. It was the very end of GHWB's term and Clinton was going to take office the next year. The President was there. It truly was a great sight seeing the Missouri enter the harbor with her sailors lining the decks. She had just finished up her final tour of duty during Operation Desert Storm and was heading to San Diego at the time.

Incredible ceremony and I met some true American heroes. Seeing the harbor and the Missouri yesterday during the NFL on Fox broadcasts brought back memories of that time for me. I still have wonderful friends that live in Hawaii and one of them still works at Pearl Harbor.
