question about where to stay :)

I'm planning to stay two nights in kc on my drive back east at the start of june. so... is it best to stay;
on the kansas side?
missouri side?
by the airport?
does it really matter?

What hotels have security?
Where do you need a key card?
It comes up so much that there is now a verified list.
