My observation from 20+ years in the US Navy is that good leaders, go to their meetings and they leave the workers alone.

Workers do not need the leaders standing in the way of work.

The best leader I ever knew stood up when there was heavy incoming and quoted Chesty Puller (?): "Come on you bastards, you want to live forever?"


We followed him to a man. I would still follow him today. He brought us all back. Some had parts missing, but they were still bitching.
