Mariya Russell makes culinary history!

Ohio born Mariya Russell is the first Black woman to be awarded a Michelin star. She is a culinary prodigy who is the chef de cuisine of Kumiko and Kikko, two Japanese-inspired sister venues in Chicago's West Loop. In just a couple years, she ascended from being a server to a sous chef to her current position.

While I've had the pleasure of going to some amazing fine dining restaurants, it's only been once that I've experienced one that was Michelin-starred. Hopefully 2020 is a year of more impeccable food and drinks for us all!
