Change in KC Prostitution Law

Well, according to KCTV-5, now the KCPD can arrest pimps, not just pros and johns. Notice the way the reporter, whether intentional or not, implicitly equated prostitution with human trafficking. Back to "Repeat something long enough, and people will believe it."

They have always been able to arrest pimps. This is nothing new.

this allows them to arrest them with the charge of promoting it, they could be arrested before under a different law to my knowledge which had to do with profitting from it. The loop hole was that the couldn't have the sink thrown at them in court, just the wash cloth.

You must acquit if the wash cloth sticks...
i think they should go after the pimps and not the girls...just what i think

At least let it be a warm washcloth.

Say, I've been asked by an anonymous friend here to emphasize a few points, which seems like a very good idea. As I'm not a legal maven, I defer to those who have more knowledge in the area. So don't shoot me; I'm only the messenger. First, thanks in part to our Patriot Acts, we can be arrested by any LE officer in MO at anytime for virtually anything. (Fortunately for me, I am no one (small 'h', and I seem ineligible to do anything at any time.) Second, as the law formerly read, people were getting away on legal technicalities in the Metro courts when charged by KC. Third, as a result of the legal change, the cases stay here in city court instead of going to district. That means more money for KC. Hooray for KC! Sorry, I got carried away.

I suppose the moral of the story is to be no one, do nothing, and go nowhere...or at least have a good attorney. Then again, if I were standing in my front yard with no ID, my luck is that I'd be arrested for loitering and not having proper identification.

The rest of the story you have right on. It's not changing anything other than the venue for charging pimps. That said however, municipal courts are easier to obtain convictions than district court. The district court is prosecuting rapes, robberies, and murders. The DA may not throw a lot of resources at a pimp case (unless it's sweeps week on KCTV5). Municipal court is more of an ATM machine to generate revenue for the city.
