No beaches. We're 100 mi. upriver. You can go to the Lake Pontchartrain lakefront. You can visit the battlefield in Chalmette or do a Plantation tour. Or you can just get drunk on Bourbon St. That seems to be what most out-of-towners want to do. Wandering around the French Qtr. (during the DAY--do this during the DAY) is interesting & nice. Problem is NOLA advertises itself as the Big Easy, Sin City East, Party-Party-Party--and then you get to Sunday, when EVERYTHING is closed. So... walk on the riverfront, have some coffee @ du Monde or one of the other coffee-shops on Decatur, go to a movie @ Canal Place, see the Aquarium. All fun things. Sundays I cook & clean for the upcoming week, so it's a tough day for me to have fun.
Well that sounds like ALOT of fun!!! I may have to come back on better timing

Today is the last day of the Satchmo Summerfest - http://www.fqfi.org/satchmosummerfest/

Wander around the French Quarter, check out some music. Hit Frenchman Street after dark for great music and fewer tourists. Check out the Garden District or the cemeteries.

There is LOTS of stuff to do! All you gotta do is step outside! It is hotter than blue blazes here lately, so bring lots of water with you.

I'm very very lucky to live near City Park. Nicolet is right--it's hotter'n the SE corner o' hell right now, but it sure is pretty out. I should take advantage of how beautiful my area is more often. Like, I think... now. Seems like a great time for a walk. Review done, supper in crock-pot... yep. Time for a walk.
