I guess this is a bit like an "Easter Egg" hidden in a computer program. (What do they call an unintentional "Easter Egg?")

An unintended easter egg is a bug. In this case, the "show single post" feature doesn't quite mesh with the "show the menu trail that got you here" feature. "Left Column" is probably a placeholder value in the code.
